Born in the UK in 1961 John Grieve is primarily interested in how sounds relate to ideas. Originally a saxophonist, he is one of the first generation of British sound artists and is a member of the school of spectral sonoristic nihilism (SSN). In 2017 he was awarded composer of the year by the Zero Arts Foundation. He is a founder member of the legendary 1980s dadaist group Hastings of Malawi. Many of the sounds on this website are in the low frequency range and will not be heard on the small speakers found on laptops, tablets and mobile phones. We recommend using headphones or a sound system and listening at high volume.
